Community Opportunities
Work Opportunities
There are three levels to actual employment: sheltered, supported and
competitive employment. Sheltered employment is provided at the
Foundation's facility for people who are working on entry-level
employment skills. This form of employment requires continuous
professional supervision and quality control. Community based
employment sites provide training at an actual community worksite, so
individualized professional support is not as intense as with the
sheltered workshop. Supported and/or competitive employment is
designed on the job training for people who have been hired by an
employer who are more independent than at the other levels. They
require only periodic site visits.
